It's nice to know that the 419 spammers keep abreast of the latest news. I got this in email just now:
I am Dr Bill Jhonson, the coordinator Anna Nicole Smith overseas initiative.A world outreach with a vision to care for the physically challenged children. She has, until her death the vision, to impact lives in the rest of Africa And some developing and underdeveloped countries of the world.I got your contact when i was searching for the contact of person who she wanted to make her FOUNDATION representative in your country, before she died. Anna Nicole Smith.

I and her have been friends for a long time. We made plans to extend Her FOUNDATION World wide, before She Died and she deposited the sum of($12.6 Million United State Dollars) in a bank in Europe which nobody is aware except me She deposited the said amount, during one of her visits to Europe. For More Details About Her Death Visit:http://www.cnn.com/2007/LAW/02/16/smith.ruling/index.html
It continues, of course, with the usual blahblahblah secret account, blahblahblah.

If anybody would like to mail Dr. Bill about his secret initiative (and, of course, send him details of your bank account), his email address is dr_billjohnson21@yahoo.co.in.

(This, of course, assumes that, like mine, your MegaMillions tickets were yet another betrayal of your dreams. *sniff*)

[livejournal.com profile] vettecat pointed me to an LJ entry by [livejournal.com profile] c1 containing this lovely footage of the world's fastest production car taken to its top speed (on a closed track, so calm down) of 253 mph. (No, that's not klicks. This is an English show, and they use real measures...or, rather, their unreal ones are the ones we Americans inherited.)

Holy moly!

[livejournal.com profile] c1 notes one of his favorite lines (which is delightful) from the video:
We're now going more than 300 kilometers per hour. At this speed, the tyres last only 15 minutes, but that's OK, because the fuel will only last 12.
Heh.

Valentina Tereshkova turned 70 yesterday, and she looks damned good.

She also talked about leaving Earth again.

Tereshkova says she has only one hobby: Mars.

She would be willing to take a ticket to Mars, she said, even if it was one-way.

When Tereshkova became the first woman in space, Sally Ride (the third woman in space, and the first American woman in space) was 11.

Okay, these kids are absolutely amazing. One brother is four...the other is two. And between them, they pound on drums better than people...well, ten times their age.

The brothers are Isaiah and Abdoulaye; they were born in the U.S., but live in Africa.
