I'll admit I've never been a McLaren fan. Ferrari has been my team since I knew what race cars were -- just as it was my father's team and my mother's team. So when McLaren-Mercedes were proven to have engaged in industrial espionage against Ferrari in 2007, I was as angry as anyone in Rome. And I was damned pleased when FIA & the World Motor Sport Council fined McLaren-Mercedes $100 million and disqualified them from the constructor's championship that year.

And now, McLaren is up to its old tricks: ordering driver Lewis Hamilton to lie to race stewards about details of his being overtaken under yellow in the closing laps of last week's Australian Grand Prix. Hamilton is apparently angry that he was led that way, and McLaren-Mercedes and he have been stripped of points and position for the race.

I'd have a lot more sympathy for Hamilton, but he agreed with the misleading information (in front of the stewards), and after 2007 he should know that McLaren-Mercedes are scum.

(We're watching the Malaysian race right now, on tape delay, because we're just not dedicated enough to have watched it live at 5 a.m.)

Today we had fresh waffles with real maple syrup, good coffee, and slab-cut bacon for breakfast. Right now, there is Ragu alla Bolognese alla Mario Batali in the crock pot (all of the hard work having been done in a stove-top pot) slowly simmering. (We're off to continue our hunt for the perfect television console in a few.) We'll have that tonight, with a big tossed salad.

Last night...was not so exciting. We went grocery shopping while slightly hungry -- always a mistake. So dinner...was a weird melange involving shrimp cocktail, mixed antipasti, pizza rolls, and half an onion bagel each. Weekends are so strange. :-)
