When did the American pronunciation of "homage" change so that it was, for lack of a better descriptor, "Frenchified"? (The way I was taught to say the word may be heard here on Wordnik.)

We haven't had our average amount of rain this month, but it's been less sunny with lower temps. We're all getting kind of annoyed at it.

Still, I'll take the coolth over the 90&d;F days.

(1) Eating real food can give you energy. I learned this 15 minutes ago, alas.

(2) Scammers are now hitting cell phones. If you receive a text message from anyone telling you to call (708) 876-7481, be advised that this is a scam. Mine said "City of Boston Alert. Unusual activity. Call now." Checking the phone number on Google once I got to the office, I see that this same number has been used for a series of scam attempts. (In the morning, I believe calling the FBI would be a good citizen thing to do. The number is in Cook County.)

(3) When you have to teach at 5:30 p.m., it is nearly inevitable that you will get a phone call at 5:28 p.m. from someone who is almost totally unintelligible. Calling me "Dr. Deb" meant he also did not know me. He'll (perhaps) call back.

(4) Boston is pretty in sunshine. :-)
