AccuWeather's main headline today was "Snow buries New England." At least for my own little corner, that's not correct -- we've only got about 6" or so of new snow, and we had a lot of melt yesterday with the rain, so it's mostly *just* the new snow..

Of course, the rain preceding the snow also means that we have that winter wonderland look this morning, as all of the trees are wearing a heavy coating of white, as if they had been drenched in icing. But this isn't a burial...it's at most an inconvenience. Now, elsewhere in New England, they might be buried, but here? Not so much.

And there's coffee, a cinnamon roll, and no need to go anywhere until mid-afternoon. Sweet. :-) Tomorrow, though, it's back to work.

AccuWeather is reporting the likelihood of monster waves hitting California this week.
Massive waves whipped up by a train of powerful Pacific gales will hammer California during much of this week.

Seas will build to 30 to 40 feet over the central and eastern Pacific Ocean during the early and midweek as the string of storms sets up an unbroken belt of high winds. On today, the focus for the highest of these waves will shift southward from the Pacific Northwest into California, raising towering breakers along the beaches of northern and central California.

The assault on California's shore will reach full pitch between late Tuesday and early Thursday, when waves off California will top 30 feet. The onslaught of mighty breakers will reshape many a strand throughout California, although the highest waves will spare south-facing beaches of Southern California.
Fortunately, most of my California friends are smart enough to stay away from a beach like that. But waves that high are just begging for crazed surfers.

Everything they've said: utterly predictable plot, the most amazing thing I've ever seen on a movie screen, and you *must* see it in 3D. Our iMax experience was...wow.

You don't know me, and I don't know you. But your Letter to the Editor of the Minneapolis-St. Paul Star Tribune in response to Pat Robertson is a thing of beauty. Will Rogers, Ambrose Bierce, and Samuel Clemens would be cheering with glee.

Absolutely brilliant.
