Interpol has now got Julian Assange on its "most wanted" list at Sweden's behest. After releasing him from custody regarding claims of sexual assault, the Swedes want him back. So, the question is: are the charges likely to be real charges, or is this one way of disrupting his life enough that he might not get around to posting any more damaging stuff?

In my poll yesterday about the sexual assault charges against WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, every person answering the poll avoided the answer "not at all concerned about the reality of the charges; Sweden would not be a pawn of the US government in this."

One of you claimed not to be as much of a cynic as I am. And quite a few of you wanted to select multiple answers. Given what you actually *did* answer, I believe you wanted some combination of:
  • skeptical that the charges are real.
  • amazed that the CIA couldn't do a better job.
  • amazed that it was *just* sexual assault, and not also sexual assault on a sheep or pony.
  • Bravo. Carry on reading the news with your beady, cynical eyes, and I'll do the same. :-)
