What I need to do today to prep for tomorrow's walloping:
  • Wash sheets and remake the bed. Clean sheets are better to snuggle into.

  • Bake cinnamon raisin bread. Eat some of same. Slice large pieces of same and leave out overnight to get stale for French toast in the morning.

  • Package up some of the chocolate chip cookies I baked yesterday for our plow guy. He'll be needing them.

  • Talk to my doctor's office about what is now clearly bronchitis; get in and get drugs today. (Tomorrow would be a non-starter.)
  • Stay warm out there.

Last year, we watched stories of major snow storms slamming the central- and south-Atlantic seaboard states, while we sat in Massachusetts and twiddled our thumbs. We're not used to being on the short end of the snow stick.

It's nice (for some values of "nice") to see, with the storm about to hit us, that the predictions are for a normal winter storm: 1-2" for DC (which will paralyze the city), 4-8" for Philly, 8-12" for Nyawk, and 12-18" for us. The dark blue band below is, of course, covering my house (and the university called an hour ago to say it would be closed tomorrow):
