Deep-fried beer premiered at the Texas State Fair.

Also, deep-fried frozen margaritas.

I love my friends from Texas. But y'all are kind of warped.

The news media is trying to confuse us as the real name appears to be the State Fair of Texas. Texas is big enough that I thought there might be two state fairs, much like Michigan has both Michigan State University and the University of Michigan. But, no, the fried food contest has been taking place here since its debut in 2005.

Hmmm. I think we need a Renovation Souvenir Book work weekend in Dallas. Pat Virzi lives nearby, our Division Head could join us, and the rest of our Texas friends, too. The 3rd or 4th weekend, since before that is full of Ig goodness.

Oh. Reality. Never mind. But I'm putting that fair on my someday list. From the looks of it, the Minnesota State Fair will remain at the top of my personal list of state fair favorites, but Texas looks like a contender for second or third place.
