For [livejournal.com profile] gerisullivan and everybody else who really, really digs cool output devices: a foam printer:

This is not merely cool, it is *ridiculously* cool. I kind of hope they have one at MakerFaire in New York later this month.

Want. WantWantWantWantWantWantWant.

Want to take it to BaggieCon and make foamy shapes to float across the campground at Birds Hill Park during the Winnipeg Folk Festival. Want it outside the entrance to the Convention Center as Renovation starts. Foam rockets! Wanna print foam rockets!

And so much more....

You could even use the foam rockets produced to replace the metal ones that seem to be causing all this trouble (http://file770.com/?p=4384) at the moment...

They had one at Comic-Con in San Diego this year. Promoting some movie or another by sending up shapes that resemble (IIRC) restroom identifiers - i.e. basic semi-stick figures.

Since it was between the convention center and the adjacent Marriott where there was some programing and other convention activities, there was quite a crowd trying to get a look at the mechanism.

That would be such a nifty thing to have at a gathering of a hundred thousand nerds and geeks! (And yes, of course I am one...)
