*sigh*

Watching Jeopardy! tonight, we got a taste of what local television is going to be like until November's elections. Loud. Ubiquitous. Sniping.

*double sigh*

I don't like *any* of them. Not a one.

Gonna vote for Mike.

books and more time with your husband rather than TV?

I suspect that whatever we watch will be put on the DVR...then we fast-forward through the political ads. (Of course, I'll watch each one once...but then they get dreary.)

You're more generous than I; I don't even watch them once. The robocalls go to voicemail, which I may listen to if I'm sufficiently bored but are likely to be deleted unheard instead.

Robocalls are more interesting if you run them through autotune.

Ah, but I teach persuasion, on both undergraduate and graduate levels. That's why I sometimes fast-forward through the Superbowl games to watch the ads...

*G* It took me a moment to figure out you didn't mean the contestants :>

But I *do* mean exactly that.

"Gonna vote for Mike" = write-in for my husband. :-)

I fully agree

and we're having a lot of personally sniping ads here in the KC, MO area, AND we're on a border so we get both KS and MO ads.

Fortunately most of the shows I watch are on: Food Network, History Channel, Science Channel, Cooking Network, etc. that really don't carry local ads via our cable system.

It's just when i want to watch local news and that kind of thing that I get assaulted with nastygrams from all sides.

Yeah, I didn't miss the local political commercials at all...and saw about five of them during the first news show after our return. Gaak.

I commend this idea (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Party_Political_Broadcasts). Might be a tad difficult to square with that pesky First Amendement thingy, though.

Well, it would make them easier to dodge, but there is merit to our system, too. (Especially for radio. One of our state political radio ads some years ago still cracks Mike and me up to even *mention*.)
