What a productive day!
Jan. 16th, 2011 04:31 pmWe have the first pass on the basement done, which is the gross pitching. Many (too doggone many) boxes broken down, packing peanuts sorted (to take to UPS or a packing store), four enormous bags of what we deemed trash (non-recycleable stuff) filled, and basement more tidy (so we can start in on phase two of the "de-crapification" process, possibly as early as next weekend).
Basement vacuumed so we can now feel okay about going down there in stocking feet. (Yes, I vacuum the basement. If you ever replace a working vacuum cleaner with a new model, keep the old one for dry basements...much easier than the shop vac!)
Three large loads taken to the recycling station, including mass quantities of stepped-down cardboard boxes, paper, and five bags of soda cans, since Mike found out the Boy Scouts accept them and turn them in for the deposit. (Win all the way around - they get the money, the cans go to recycling, and we don't have to drag them to the grocery store. Yay!)
A large batch of dolmas (stuffed with lamb, beef, rice, onions, and fresh mint, parsley, and dill) made and cooked. Tzatziki made. The last thing to do for dinner will be later - Israeli couscous tabouli style with garlic, fresh tomatoes, scallions, and fresh mint and parsley. Mmmmmm.
Hope your day is as satisfying and as tasty!

on 2011-01-17 03:08 am (UTC)One of the many surprises of adulthood was discovering how lovely it is to have a vacuum cleaner on every floor of the house. Vacuuming occurs much more often when that is true. In my life, anyway.
