There are plenty of books on my shelves that I have read multiple times, but the TBR piles have gotten so large I'm afraid to take time off to go back and re-read very often.

As controuble said, there are many books I've re-read and many I would like to re-read, but usually, I find myself reading new books for review purposes, although last month I had a pleasant re-read of The Tragedy of Pudd'nhead Wilson.

There are precious few I re-read

Then again the same thing applies to movies. I don't like watching the same movie over and over and over again. But there are a precious few I have on DVD and I watch occasionally, for a laugh, for the love, for the awe or whatever. LOTR is actually in both categories.

I'm in an orgy of re-reading right now given that my books were packed away for five years!

I also have so many books to be read that those I am going to re-read must be books that really touched me in some way. I'm currently re-reading The Club Dumas because I love Perez-Reverte, and it's been a while, and I chose it for my book club this month (which I'm hosting). But the books that really meant something to me, I rarely give them up.

There are very few that I have re-read on purpose. I have re-read on accident due to re-issue by new pen name or new title or repackaging as 3-in-1.

Most of the time, I don't re-read. But I do tend to keep the ones that I liked the most. I give away very few books after reading.

my "to read" list is getting so long that my re-read's are losing out - but I really like re-reading certain books :>.

No. I think it's because I'm a new junkie. I think I understand the pleasure others find in re-reading; at the very least I acknowledge it. Re-reading is just not for me.

I indulge in re-reading when I'm sick, or especially if I end up in the local lock-up hospital. A good re-read keeps my attention without over-taxing my brain.

Been doing lots of re-reading this week, since I hit the trifecta: bronchitis, pneumonia AND pleurisy.

I'm currently rereading The Hound of the Baskervilles. The book is a 45-cent paperback which I think I bought new, just to give you an idea of how long I've had it. It's been long enough since the last reading that I can't remember whodunit or even exactly what was dun, but Doyle's descriptions of the moor are what's memorable, almost making the mystery secondary.

I'm currently in my umpteenth re-read of the Harry Potter Septology - although I've read the older books more than the later, since some of the re-reads proceeded reading the next book. (In truth, I've mostly listened to them in audio form - easier to do when commuting).

I also find myself going through The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings with some frequency - again more often than not as audio books.

I've also re-read many of Scott Card's Ender books more than once, and for some reason I've re-read Snow Crash a couple of times.

Those are the ones I've re-read with some frequency or close to the past reading. I've also gone back and re-read books that I haven't read for many years.
