Snobbery and sport
Feb. 5th, 2012 10:31 pmI'd started to write a lengthy note about those who disdain and loudly mock others who enjoy various sporting events. But, in the end, my rejoinder to some of the ill-mannered who have spouted off about how *they* would never like anything so *plebeian* as the Super Bowl can be summarized briefly:
Don't mock others for their preferences, if you want them to respect yours. You are being whiny and churlish.Thanks. I needed to say that.
If you do not like something, do the same thing my mother told me to do at a dinner party when I was 9: quietly set aside the thing you do not like, and do not bring attention to your rejection. In short, do not be a lout.
