For the last couple of days, we've had a taste of cooler, drier weather, with brisk evenings and no humidity. If the National Weather Service is accurate, Friday will bring some rain...and then non-humid temps next week in the low 70s°F/~21-22°C.

This is why I moved to New England 28 years ago. Not for the disgusting humidity that can hit us in the summer...nor for the wintery piles of snow plowed over my head...and nor for the three days of spring.

Autumn in New England.

That's magic time, baby.

Apples to pick. Sweaters to wear. A blustery day with leaves blowing. Trees wearing scarlet and lemony glad rags.

Oh, yeah.

Come visit. :-) You might just stay...28 years or longer...

I see from this morning's news that there have been violent attacks against the US embassy in Yemen. This is a pretty serious problem, extending the violence in the Arab world against our embassies in the wake of the deaths in Libya. But, from a personal perspective, I am happy that my friends who had been at the embassy in Sanaa, Yemen, are elsewhere.

Of course, I would be a darned sight happier if they were not in Cairo and Riyadh respectively. If you can spare a bit of time today, send a prayer or good thoughts (however you are wrapped) to the US State Department personnel who work so tirelessly for us all in the conflicted regions.

...by the fact that Russia's prime minister, Dmitry Medvedev, is urging the release of a group called Pussy Riot?

Every time I read these stories, I snicker.

Maybe I'm still, like, 12.
