Yeah, 2011 can go away any time, now

gerisullivan has said she hates this year. Me, too. The losses of friends, human beings struggling for freedom, disaster victims, and people I grew up respecting and admiring are too damned high.
Today, it was the first woman vice presidential candidate in US history, Geraldine Ferraro. You might remember her - she was the one with a brain and a hell of a lot of class. She died at 75, succumbing after a very long battle with cancer.
And SF author Diana Wynne Jones, author of Howl's Moving Castle and more than 40 other novels, also passed away from cancer today. I met her when she was the Boskone guest in 1995, and she seemed like a delightful woman.
So. Enough already.
