OTOH, I know that some Antarctic excursions provide the opportunity to take a dip in the Antarctic Ocean -- a very(!) brief dip, followed by warm towels. If I were ever to be afforded that opportunity, well...I think I'd at least consider it before saying, "Uh-uh."
While we were on cruise in Alaska over the summer, one of our friends decided to do the "plunge" into the cold, cold waters (along with most of the kids on the ship and another handful of intrepid adults). I said, "Are you *nuts*?" She said, "Ever since I started battling with cancer, I decided not to miss a single opportunity in my life. Might not get a second chance."
She's still winning...and I understand her attitude entirely. (Still not gonna do the plunge myself.)
