Probably the most impressive quote from President Obama's Second Inaugural Address:
Our journey is not complete until our gay brothers and sisters are treated like anyone else under the law –- for if we are truly created equal, then surely the love we commit to one another must be equal as well.
It seems to me that public acknowledgement of the gay community's rights and needs - from the most significant pulpit in the nation and during the most important speaking occasion we have every four years - is vital. That the president said this in his inaugural address would have been unthinkable in my youth.

Bravo, Mr. President.

Yep. This is one of the things that as far as I am concerned made it the best inaugural speech EVER. I wanted to say, "Preach it, Brother!" The speech _was_ very sermon-like.

He seems to be getting more sermonic as he moves through his presidency. One wonders if the choice of cadence is, in part, a way to give psychological comfort to those who (still, despite everything we all know about the reality of the situation) believe he is not a Christian.

I was deeply pleased to see, too, the clear inclusion of the Gay and Lesbian band as one of the marching groups for the inaugural. And they were a *big* band!
